The KLX230R S’s updated engine offers more low- to mid-range torque for low-speed control, resulting in a rider-friendly engine character and linear acceleration. This combined with the low-speed feeling makes this play bike even more fun than before.
Electric start and fuel injection ensure hassle-free starting regardless of altitude or air temperature, while contributing to clean emissions. Keyed ignition and fuel tank cap improves the security of the bike, and prevents unauthorised joyrides.
Designed from the start for dirt-riding use, the high-tensile steel perimeter frame offers the handling stability needed for confident trail riding. For 2025, a newly designed rear subframe makes it possible to maintain the long wheel travel while offering a lower seat height. Thanks to its improved rear subframe, the KLX230R S’s seat height is 25 mm lower, (875 mm compared to 900 mm on its predecessor), making the machine easier to handle and adding confidence when riding off-road, suiting it well to a wider range of riders.
Styled after Kawasaki’s cutting-edge KX motocross racers, the new KLX230R S looks like a serious off-road machine. Its flat design flows from head to tail, creating a sense of unity and a sharp overall look. The smooth bodywork was designed to have as few protruding parts as possible to facilitate moving around, contributing to excellent ergonomics. Race-inspired colours and graphics complemented by black alumite rims contribute to the machine’s sporty character.
Ample wheel travel is available at the at the front and rear thanks to an ideally suited suspension, while large-diameter aluminium wheels, measuring 21” at the front and 18” at the rear efficiently navigate trails—a combination that greatly contributes to trail-riding performance.
KX-style petal disc brakes front and rear add even more sure stopping power, with a twin-piston caliper gripping a ø240 mm disc in the front and a single-piston caliper gripping the ø220 mm disc in the rear.
Full-size aluminium wheels measuring 21” in the front and 18” in the rear efficiently overcome trail obstacles for confident riding and handling off-road.
A 7.6 litre fuel tank (compared to the previous model’s 6.6 litres) adds more range and allows longer intervals between refuelling for more fun riding time. The fuel tank also features a key-operated tank cap.
